Founder’s Day is always a fun event each year and we had extra large turnout this year. It is a special year as Brevard celebrates its 150th birthday and in honor of the sesquicentennial the City of Brevard is supporting local events like Founder’s Day all year long.

The highlight of the day was the talent show, Brevard’s Got Talent.  This year’s Master of Ceremonies was our very own Mayor Harris. Not only did he delight the crowd with his stories, he also shared the rich history of Brevard. In addition, he talked about the railroad project and the importance of preserving Brevard’s heritage.

The winner of the Brevard’s Got Talent show was The Byrds and Crows, a local bluegrass and folk music band that has a loyal fan base. The members of the band include: Kenny, Sheila and Will Byrd, Charlotte Courtney and Bruce Stowe.

Other participants in the show were Faith Batson, Courtney Batson, John Moore, Bo Lance, Kit Owen and Steven Arrington.

On-site at the event there was a plethora of vendor booths ranging from handmade craft items, delicious treats, Brevard 150th Birthday tee shirts and the amazing antique firetruck and a lot more.
